Men’s Basketball Falls at Eastern Mennonite
Harrisonburg, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s basketball team fell 83-72 on the road at Eastern Mennonite in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon. The Saints drop to 1-2 overall on the season.
Reed Scott led the Saints with 18 points while Jesse Konadu added 15 and Antonio Rouse chipped in 12.
JC Hoellich added nine points to go with eight boards. Scott added seven rebounds and Rick Narcisse had six.
Rouse led the Saints with five assists with Narcisse dishing out another four.
A back-and-forth first half saw four ties and four lead changes through the first 20 minutes before going into halftime tied at 33-33. Marymount outshot the Royals (4-0) 50 percent to 43.8% in the frame.
Eastern Mennonite jumped out to a 10-1 run to kick off the second half and led comfortably by double-digits the majority of the frame until the Saints staged a late comeback attempt. Down 72-59 with just over five minutes to play, MU put together a 9-1 run capped by a Konadu three-pointer to pull within five at 73-68 with just 2:55 remaining. The Saints wouldn’t be able to get any closer though, as EMU retook a three-possession lead at the free throw line and held off the Blue and White the rest of the way.
Five Royals scored in double-figures in the win. Andrew Thorne led the way with a game-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds.
