Women’s Swimming Tops Randolph-Macon for Third-Straight Victory; Men Fall to RMC
Ashland, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s swimming team picked up its third-straight victory with a 106-97 victory at Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon. The Saints men’s squad fell 104-84 to the Yellow Jackets.
One the women’s side, the Saints claimed six individual and both relay wins to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Opening and closing the day with relay wins, MU kicked things off as the team of Kassidy Schmidt, Jessica Hester, Katie Moran and Bridget Wunderly won the 200 medley relay. The Saints team of Moran, Hanna Del Signore, Taylor Hood and Casey Thomas closed things out with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay.
In individual heats, Schmidt won the 200 backstroke, Hester won the 200 breaststroke, Wunderly won the 200 butterfly, Moran won the 50 freestyle and Thomas claimed victory in the 200 IM.
On the men’s side, the Saints won both relay events and a pair of individual events including sweeping the 200 breaststroke.
Opening and closing the day with relay wins, MU started things off as the team of Matt Essig, Will Bryan, Robert Klazynski and James Gibbons won the 200 medley relay. The Saints team of Collin Chartier, Tyler Hayes, Klazynski and Gibbons closed things out with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay.
Individually, Chartier won the 500 freestyle while Bryan, Joseph Gardner and Joe Paris went 1-2-3 in the 200 breaststroke.
Marymount returns to action on December 6-7 with a repeat trip to Ashland at the Randolph-Macon Invitational.
