Dr. Raja T. Nasr, professor of Education, has just published his 60th book. Education as Communication: Adding Quality to Teaching was published by Linus Publications, Inc. Dr. Nasr has served on the Marymount faculty since 1990, specializing in courses associated with the teaching of English as a Second Language. He formerly served as director of the Center for English Language Research and Teaching at the American University of Beirut and was professor of Education and Applied Linguistics at the Beirut University College (now the Lebanese American University). Dr. Nasr has trained teachers in 21 countries on four continents and has provided educational services to 16 governments of the Middle East and North and East Africa. His books and articles on education, applied linguistics, and language teaching and learning include two bilingual dictionaries. Also among his titles are Whole Education: A New Direction to Fill the Relevance Gap, Applied English Phonology, Applied English Grammar, and A First English Dictionary for ESL Students.
Dr. Michael Boylan, professor of Philosophy, had his 25th book, Morality and Global Justice: Justifications and Applications
, published in March 2011 by Westview Press. He has also had more than 100 articles published. Dr. Boylan, who has taught at Marymount since 1987, focuses his research and teaching on ethics, social and political philosophy, the history of philosophy, the philosophy of science, and the intersection of philosophy and literature. Other recent books by Dr. Boylan include A Just Society; The Good, the True, and the Beautiful: A Quest for Meaning; Critical Inquiry: The Process of Argument
; and a novel that provides perspective on his philosophical world view, The Extinction of Desire: A Tale of Enlightenment.
