Men’s Soccer Qualifies for CAC Tournament
York, Pa. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team received a bid to the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament First Round, as announced by the league office on Thursday. The Saints earned the sixth-seed in the draw and will face third-seeded Stevenson on Sunday, October 31, at 1 p.m. in Owings Mills, Md.
Marymount has reached the CAC Tournament every year since league tournament play began in 1991, a span of 20 consecutive postseason bids. The Saints’ best finishes came when they reached the semifinals in 1995, 1996, 2000 and 2003.
Twentieth-ranked York (Pa.) earned the top-seed in the tournament courtesy of an undefeated 8-0 record in CAC play. Twenty-fifth ranked Salisbury picked up the second-seed after going 6-2 in conference and will host the winner of the Marymount/Stevenson showdown on Wednesday, November 3.
On the other side of the draw, fifth-seeded St. Mary’s (Md.) will travel to face fourth-seed Mary Washington on Sunday. The winner of that game will play at York on Wednesday.
The CAC Championship will be held on Saturday, November 6, and hosted by the highest remaining seed.
Marymount went 8-8-2 in the regular season and 2-4-2 in CAC play. The Saints claimed victories over Wesley and St. Mary’s (Md.) while collecting draws against Stevenson and Frostburg State to qualify for the tournament.
