Women’s Soccer Wins at Eastern Mennonite
Harrisonburg, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team earned a dominant 4-1 victory on the road at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday. The Saints move to 3-1 overall on the season.
Freshman Melissa Fessenden led the Saints with a pair of goals, including the game-winner, while fellow rookies Alex Thomas and Kailyn Henson added goals as well. Senior Krysti Patient, sophomore Julie Fioramonti and both Thomas and Henson logged assists for the Blue and White.
Marymount dominated the Royals in the first half, scoring all four goals in the opening frame and taking a 4-0 lead into the break. Thomas notched the opening score in the ninth minute, followed by Fessenden’s first tally in the 14th minute, Henson’s score in the 32nd minute and Fessenden’s second goal with just seconds remaining in the stanza.
Nora Osei scored the lone goal for Eastern Mennonite in the 54th minute.
In goal, sophomore Holly Wenger (1-0) earned the victory after manning the opening 45 minutes between the pipes. She was relieved by senior Gaby Prellezo who matched Wenger’s numbers of five shots and one save on the day.
Marymount returns to action on Thursday as its opens Capital Athletic Conference play on the road at Wesley.
