Men’s Lacrosse Drops Season Finale
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s lacrosse team dropped its season finale 11-8 to visiting Frostburg State in Capital Athletic Conference action on Friday night. The Saints close out the 2011 season 2-14 overall and 0-8 in CAC competition.
Jeff Cook and Tom Anderson both led the Saints with a pair of goals while Chris Wascak, Drew Phillips, Andrew Gaston and Jack Burke all scored as well. Wascak also chipped in three assists while Cook and Austin Griffie logged lone assists too.
Defensively, Ross Fernandez earned 14 saves in goal. Robby Woycik collected four ground balls and was one of three Saints to cause three turnovers, joining Connor Kellogg and Anderson.
Marymount struggled to find the back of the net in the first half, going scoreless and trailing 6-0 going into halftime. Coming out the break, the Bobcats would push their lead to 8-0 before the Saints mounted a comeback.
Scoring six of the next seven goals, MU pulled within three at 9-6 on the second of Anderson’s two fourth quarter goals. The Saints cut the deficit to just two at 10-8 on Burke’s man-up goal with 2:39 to play but couldn’t get any closer.
