Volleyball Falls to Stevenson in CAC Opener
Owings Mills, Md. – Marymount University’s volleyball team fell in its Capital Athletic Conference opener 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-13) to Stevenson on Thursday night.
Johanna Hummel led the Saints (3-6, 0-1 CAC) with six kills while Sharda Braxton added five. Melissa Warren paced the offense with 17 assists.
On the defensive end, Marymount collected 45 digs. Michelle McCormick led the way with 17 while Chelsea Gates chipped in with nine and Braxton had seven.
The Saints kept neck-and-neck with the Mustangs (11-1, 1-0 CAC) through the first halves of each set before SU would eventually pull away.
Avery Gabbard led Stevenson with 15 kills while Alex Mercer had 12.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it travels to nearby rival Catholic on Saturday for a tri-match against the host Cardinals and Franklin & Marshall at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
