Virginia Beach, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to third-ranked Christopher Newport to open the Chick-Fil-A Tournament on Saturday. The Saints even their record to 1-1-1 on the season.
Christopher Newport posted a pair of goals within a two minute span late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Saints would respond early in the second half as George Delgado cut the deficit to one at the 48:58 mark to make it a 2-1 contest.
A tightly contested match, both teams combined for 34 total fouls and 12 yellow cards.
In goal, Mike Madigan collected five saves for the Saints in the loss.
Marymount returns to action on Sunday as they face host Virginia Wesleyan to close out the tournament.
