Katelyn Fischer Named D3Hoops.com Preseason All-American

Arlington, Va. - Marymount University senior guard Katelyn Fischer was named Preseason Honorable Mention All-America by D3Hoops.com on Monday. She is the only player from the Capital Athletic Conference to earn the accolade.

Fischer had a stellar campaign for the Saints as a junior last season. She was tabbed Honorable Mention All-America by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, VaSID College Division Player of the Year, D3Hoops.com All-Region and First Team All-CAC by the league’s coaches.

Dominant in every aspect on the floor for the Blue and White, Fischer averaged 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game while ranking in the top-10 of eight different CAC statistical categories. Leading the CAC in scoring, three-point shooting and minutes played while ranking second in assists and free throw shooting, Fischer was also seventh in steals and 10th in rebounding. On the national stage, she ranked seventh in assists in NCAA Division III, 14th in three-point percentage, 25th in free throw percentage and 48th nationally in scoring.

The Saints open the 2012-13 season on November 16-17 as they host their annual Tip-Off Tournament. Marymount battles Bridgewater (Va.) in the opener before taking on either Christopher Newport or Gettysburg.
