A Campuswide Celebration!

Marymount is thrilled to announce a shift toward a traditional Homecoming weekend that will include students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Lauren Kiesling, director of Alumni Relations, notes, “Our alumni want to interact with current students, to get a feel for what campus life is like right now. So we think that this more traditional, campuswide Homecoming celebration will be appealing to everyone.”

These sentiments are echoed by Marymount’s athletic director, Debra Warren. She reports, “Our students have said that they would love to have a traditional Homecoming experience at Marymount. They want a reason to gather and enjoy a weekend of school spirit. They want to ‘bleed blue and white,’ sharing actively in the pride and love for this University that so many members of the MU community feel.”

The festivities are set for the weekend of October 14–16. The fact that Friday, October 14, is also the date of the annual “Midnight Madness” celebration that kicks off the NCAA Division III basketball season only adds to the excitement.

Also part of this year’s Homecoming celebration will be Marymount’s 2011 Alumni Awards presentation. The awards have been presented at a separate event in past years but are being moved to Homecoming weekend to make the festivities even more special and meaningful for Marymount alums. Lauren Kiesling says, “What better time to celebrate the accomplishments of some of our most successful and dedicated alumni than on a weekend when the whole Marymount community is gathered for friendship and fun!”
