International Service Programs

Participating in an international service program provides a culturally immersive global education experience that allows one to enhance their academic study with service work and experiential learning. While working alongside community members to help meet community-identified needs, students have the opportunity to explore social justice issues and connect classroom knowledge to real world applications within the context of a host community.

International service opportunities are available to both undergraduate and graduate students of all majors during the winter, spring, and summer breaks.  While the deadlines for application to international service programs vary greatly by provider, students are encouraged to come speak with a CGE staff member at least one semester in advance of the session during which they would like to complete a service opportunity abroad, if not earlier, to ensure their selection of and application to their chosen program is successful.

There is great diversity among international service programs in their focus and populations served, but regardless of which program you commit to, the experience will deepen your sense of intercultural understanding, providing you with valuable international experience, widening your perspective on societal and global issues, and challenging you to reflect on your role as a global citizen.

Below are a few of the organizations Marymount recommends students review when selecting an international services program through which to participate.  To learn more about additional international service opportunities, please schedule an appointment with a CGE staff member today.
