Get Your Parking Permit: If you park at a Marymount facility, you will need to obtain or renew your parking permit by August 26. Mass Schedule: Campus Ministry reminds the Marymount community that Masses in the Main Chapel, which had been suspended for the summer, will resume as follows:
- Daily Mass at 7:30 a.m., August 22
- Daily Mass at noon, August 25
- Sunday Mass at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., August 28
Book Cards for Students with Financial Aid Balances: The offices of Student Accounts and Financial Aid announce that this fall students with excess financial aid on their student account can use that money to buy books and supplies from the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, with book cards that will available before their refund check is issued.
In the past, students with financial aid balances had to wait until their refund check was issued to buy their textbooks. Now, they can buy their books even before classes begin.
Students should contact the Student Accounts Office between Aug. 22 and Sept. 2 to apply for a book card in either a $250 or $500 denomination. The amount on the card will be deducted from the student’s financial aid refund check, which will be issued after classes start Aug. 29.

New Printing Facilities: Marymount University has contracted with WEPA (Wireless Everywhere Print Anywhere) to provide a new option for student printing, which previously had to be done in computer labs or at the library. The printing will be done at blue kiosks that are being placed around Main Campus, the Ballston Center, and the Reston Center.
Once they register with WEPA and create an account, students can print documents from a jump drive, a computer, a SmartPhone, an iPad, or directly from the Internet. Prints are in black and white (free) or color (for a minimal cost). Students can print Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and images, and the print program is compatible with both PCs and Macs.
Students have several payment options, including loading money onto their WEPA account by debit/credit card, or purchasing WEPA print cards. Faculty and staff who choose to use a kiosk will have to pay to print.
The kiosks never close, and WEPA provides technical support around the clock. WEPA will employ student workers on campus to monitor and maintain the machines. The kiosks will be activated in the next few days. Users can register at the kiosk or online by visiting www.WEPAnow.com

Student Nurses Picnic: The Student Nurses Association is hosting a Welcome Back Nursing BBQ on Sunday, Aug. 28, 1 to 4 p.m., at Bon Air Park, 850 N. Lexington St., Arlington. The event will feature food, entertainment by a live band, games, team sports, a raffle and more. Marymount faculty and staff in the Nursing program are cordially invited. The event is free to Marymount Nursing students and $5 per person for other guests. No need to RSVP.
The second edition of Dr. Liane Summerfield’s textbook, Nutrition, Exercise, and Behavior: An Integrated Approach to Weight Management, was published in June by Wadsworth Cengage. Dr. Summerfield is associate vice president for Academic Affairs and professor of Health and Human Performance.
Dr. Skye Donovan, assistant professor of Physical Therapy, has been selected as the winner of the 2011 Healthy Lifestyle MVP Award in the Individual category. According to the announcement from Inova Health System, Dr. Donovan was nominated in recognition of her "dedication and hard work to promote health among youth in your community."
In her ongoing efforts to raise awareness about childhood obesity, Dr. Donovan takes part in several community programs in Arlington, including an after-school kids’ running club and twice weekly physically active games during recess at Key Elementary School; playground games and nutrition classes at Saint Charles School; and water aerobics and nutrition classes for overweight and obese kids at the Upton Hill Pool.
The award, sponsored by Inova Health System and the Washington Mystics, was presented on Aug. 12 during a ceremony at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Helen Fitzpatrick, who died on July 27. Ms. Fitzpatrick was the mother of Jef Dolan, assistant professor of Communication.
