Beth Ann Wilson has been the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Marymount University since 1993. Named the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006, she has acquired a 299-338 career record with the Saints.
Since 1993, the program has recorded nine seasons over .500 and seven 20 win seasons. Under her Wilson’s leadership, Marymount has had 16 all-CAC selections, one CAC Rookie of the Year, three AVCA All-Region Selections and two Honorable Mention All-Americans. In 2006, the program celebrated their most successful season with a 24-9 record, a CAC regular season championship and the team's first ever NCAA regional ranking.
Coach Wilson began her volleyball career as a high school player in San Diego, Calif. She was named the 2A California Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year in 1985 while at La Jolla High School and continued playing at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. In college, she was a two-year captain and all-conference selection her junior and senior seasons. She received her B.A. in Religion in 1989.
Throughout the years, Coach Wilson has served on numerous committees within the CAC, the NCAA and the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She is currently on the AVCA All-Region committee which is responsible for selecting the best players in the Mid Atlantic region that will go on to be eligible for All-American selection. She also serves on the NCAA regional ranking committee, which ranks the top eight college programs in the Mid Atlantic throughout the season. Wilson also works as the Coaching Advisor for Arlington Volleyball Club.
Coach Wilson's number one goal, is giving her players a positive college experience. This means a concentration on academics, a competitive volleyball program, training that is challenging, strong team relationships and positive coaching that builds self-esteem and confidence. When these elements are achieved, she knows her players are successful, happy and are developing the skills and strategies they need for success on and off the court. She also hopes it creates a desire in her alumnus to continue to play as adults or continue their volleyball careers as coaches. For her, the ultimate compliment is seeing her alumni playing and/or coaching after graduation. She currently has six alumnae coaching high school programs.
Off the court, Coach Wilson has been married for 18 years, has three children and lives close to Marymount's campus in Arlington.
