Kathryn Fossaceca and Lindsay Rose, both sophomore Biology majors, have been trained by Dr. Deana Jaber, assistant professor of Physical Sciences, on the care and handling of one of Marymount’s latest acquisitions: a $275,000 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer.
Dr. Jaber explains, “The NMR is heavily used in scientific research, medical imaging techniques, and the pharmaceutical industry. Upon graduation, undergraduates in any MU science program – Biology, Forensic Science, Physical Therapy, pre-med – will stand out from their peers with employers or when applying to graduate or medical school because they have had the opportunity to use an NMR. The fact that MU has invested in this state-of-theart instrument underscores the University’s commitment to taking student research to the next level.”
