El Salvador, literally meaning “Republic of the Savior,” is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America. It borders the Pacific Ocean between Guatemala and Honduras. Because of its dramatic recent history, its current stability, and its rich human resources, Salvadoran society is an ideal place for you to experience issues that confront residents of developing countries – the vast majority of the world’s citizens today.
A majority of programs offered in Latin America require two to four university-level Spanish and/or Portuguese language classes. In addition, students are expected to take at least one 3-credit language course, if English is not the first language of the country they are visiting.
