Nursing Scholarships

A number of external scholarships are available to those pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) degree.

The Nursing Scholarship Program provides scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum two-year, full-time service commitment — or a part-time commitment of a correspondingly longer duration — at a designated Critical Shortage Facility. These healthcare facilities are in areas with shortages of primary care or mental health professionals. While in school, NSP participants receive tuition and fees, an annual payment for other reasonable costs such as expenses for books, clinical supplies and instruments, and a monthly stipend for living expenses. For 2012, the program has recognized the increasing demand for nurse practitioners by reserving up to half the award funds for students pursuing a master’s level nurse practitioner degree.
Application Deadline: May 8 (5 p.m. ET)

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program
The Loan Repayment Program offers two levels of funding based upon the need of the community in which a provider works. The LRP will provide up to $60,000 to primary care providers practicing at an NHSC-approved site. Those practicing at a site with a HPSA score of 14 or above may receive up to $60,000, and those practicing at an NHSC-approved site with a HPSA score of 13 and below up to $40,000.  Review the Application and Program Guidance for additional information.
2012 Application Deadline: May 15
