1. When can I pick up my commencement tickets?
If you are participating in the undergraduate ceremony, you may pick up your tickets from the Office of Student Development (1028 Gerard Hall) beginning on Monday, April 21. You can find more information about ticket pick-up online.
Tickets for the Graduate Commencement ceremony are handled through the Office of Academic Affairs and they can be reached at 703-284-1550.
2. How many tickets will I get?
Each undergraduate student is allotted six tickets. Graduating students do not need a ticket for themselves.
3. What if I need more tickets?
Once you pick up your original six tickets during the week of April 21, you will be eligible to sign up for the extra ticket lottery. Information about how to sign up for the extra tickets will be given to you at ticket pick up.
Most years students have received 3 to 5 additional tickets. If you need more than that, you should talk to classmates and friends about any extras they may have.
Tickets are free for graduating students and cannot be purchased.
4. What if I don’t need all my tickets?
You can return your extra tickets to the Student Development office for distribution to other students, OR you can give your tickets to other graduates who need them.
5. Do children need tickets?
Children under three years who will sit on another guest’s lap do not need their own ticket.
6. What if I lose my tickets... can I get more?
Please keep your tickets in a safe place as we do not assign specific tickets to students and cannot replace lost tickets.
7. What if I have a guest who will need physical accommodations (wheelchair, hearing impaired, etc.)?
Please contact the Office of Student Access Services BEFORE the event. You can email the director at email@example.com to make arrangements.
8. Some of my guests need a letter from the University so they can get a travel visa. Where can I get that letter?
The Office of International Student Services can assist students who need these letters.
9. Where can I get my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns (along with other graduation items) can be purchased through the Marymount bookstore. Although the bookstore will be at Commencement to provide replacement items for issues that occur, students MUST purchase their caps and gowns before Commencement day.
10. How long does the ceremony last?
The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours. Students must arrive one hour prior to the start of their ceremony to begin to line up.

11. After graduation, how can I stay connected with Marymount?
Once you graduate, you are automatically a member of the Marymount University Alumni Association. This membership comes with many benefits, events, and opportunities to get involved as an alum. To learn more, visit the alumni webpage. Make sure to update the alumni office by contacting them at firstname.lastname@example.org with any changes in your email and mailing addresses or phone number so that you can stay up to date on alumni happenings!
12. What is the Senior Class Gift?
Started by the Class of 2011, the Pay It Forward Scholarship is an ongoing tradition for MU's Senior Class. This year we ask all seniors to "Pay It Forward" with a gift of $14 in honor of your class year. For every $500 that your class raises an incoming freshman in the Class of 2018 will receive a scholarship.
13. How can I make my gift to the Senior Class Gift?
You can make your gift to the Senior Class Gift online, or stop by the Main House. As a thank you for your contributing to your Senior Class Gift, you will receive a fleur-de-lis pin.
