Marymount University has two chapels and a prayer/meditation room where individuals may go for quiet reflection.
Main Campus – Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel
Centrally located on the Main Campus, the Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel is a place of quiet prayer and sanctuary in the midst of a bustling campus. Daily and Sunday Masses are celebrated here, as well as twice weekly opportunities for confession. See the Mass and confession schedules here
.The chapel, which seats 200, is open from early morning until late night for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to drop in for a peaceful time with the Lord.
Ballston Center Chapel
Located on the 5th floor of the Ballston Center, the Ballston Chapel serves as a quiet place for personal prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. From time to time, special Masses are celebrated in the chapel, which seats about 25 people.
Campus Ministry also offers resources
to support your worship with seasonal and pastoral literature.
The Prayer/Meditation Room is located on the first floor of the Lodge, adjacent to the Commuter Lounge. It is available around-the-clock. This room features comfortable chairs, soft lighting, large pillows, and prayer rugs, and it is meant as a place for private/personal prayer. It is open to students of all faiths. It includes pictures of nature and holy sayings from Jewish and Christian scipture and the Quran, all in English.
Each of these sacramental/liturgical events require advance planning and discussion, as they are not normally celebrated in our chapels.
- Weddings are permitted for current students, faculty and staff, with some exceptions for recent graduates.
- Infant baptisms are not normally celebrated here, taking place instead at a person’s home parish. Adult baptisms are permitted for those participating in the Campus Ministry RCIA program.
- If requested by the family, funeral Masses for a current student, faculty, or staff member may be celebrated in the Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel.
